Booking 101

Booking a yacht charter has several steps but it doesn’t have to be complicated. At Yachtisea, we’re here to make this as seamless and rewarding as possible for our clients. The 6 steps below are what you can expect starting with your initial charter research to having your charter booked:

Research and Define Your Requirements
Research and Define Your Requirements
  • Type of Yacht: Determine the type and size of yacht you want. The size of your party dictates the number of cabins needed (most commonly two guests per cabin). Typical party sizes range from six to eight guests, and this will be a good starting point to determine your yacht size needs. Options include sailing yachts, motor yachts, catamarans, and luxury mega yachts. If you have a very sizable party (10+ guests), it’s easy to coordinate multiple yachts (aka “Flotilla”) that sail in tandem throughout your week.
  • Destination: Decide on your preferred cruising destination. Yacht charters are available in various locations worldwide, from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean.
  • Desired Dates: For the Caribbean, the yacht charter season kicks off November 1st every year and extends through the first week of August. In the Mediterranean, the season starts in late April and extends until October. For other regions of the world, weather is also the determining factor to define the season.
  • Determine your budget: Consider all costs; the charter fee, crew gratuity, spending money for island time and any dinners off the yacht. Also consider the cost of flights and a hotel stay the night before your charter departure.
*Important to know: Regardless of what broker you work with, the price for your chosen yacht will be the consistent across all brokers, worldwide. This is a highly regulated industry to protect everyone involved, including you. As a prior yacht owner, we had many instances where clients contacted us directly believing they would receive a better price by skipping the “middle man”. In this industry, there is no such middle man. The price is the price and as an owner, we simply passed this inquiry on to a reputable broker to assist the client.
